Ximending Youth Shopping District (西門町) Taipei Taiwan



The name of Ximending came from the period of Japanese colonization. At that time most local residents live within Taipei City. Ximending is the center for recreation. In 1896, the first theater "Tokyo Stand" was set up. In 1922, the place was officially called Ximending.

Ximending is a neighborhood and shopping district in the Wanhua District of Taipei, Taiwan. It was the first pedestrian zone in Taiwan.

One of the most popular destination for tourists, the Ximending Pedestrian Area is the centre of the district, and accessible from Exit 6 of Ximen Station. The area is very popular with tourists and Taipei youth, and, along with shopping and restaurants, also hosts street performances and exhibitions.

It is recommended for visitors to find a hotel in and around Ximen due to the large amount and variety of cool and interesting hotels such as Beauty Hotels Taipei Hotel B6

In the middle of the Pedestrian area, a lot of street performers are there to show off their talents (西門盯 街頭艺人), this is one of the performance i watched.

Travel Information
  1. Take the THSR to Taipei Station, continue by MRT to Ximen Station.
  2. Take the train to Taipei Railway Station, continue by MRT to Ximen Station.

Zhongli District is a district in Taoyuan City, Taiwan. Zhongli. Foreign workers from Philippines, India, Vietnam, Thailand, and other Southeast Asian country come to Jhongli to get together during weekends, or during their day off from work. From Taipei, you can ride TRA, and get off at Zhongli Station, then take the front station exit, opposite of it is the Zhongli shopping district, which is quite free from vehicles. Shopping district is great, you can find a lot of food stalls, stores selling fashion apparels, shoes, gadgets, and accessories. There is also some small groceries selling goods from Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand. If you want to stay overnight, there's a lot of hotel, and motels around this area. But i recommend the Park hotel, it's a 3 star hotel, hotel room are clean, room are spacious, bathroom is good size, bed is big enough for two, and the staff are friendly.
